French Verbs Our weekly french verbs (to be conjugated in the present tense and past tense include: Commencer, commander, emprunter, préférer, danser, regarder, promener, espérer, abandonner, détester, renouveler Our verb test will be taking place on Friday January 25.
Books Reports - one French and one English This month's focus is on biographies and/or autobiographies. Students are asked to read either a biography or an autobiography each in French and English. Our French (auto)biographies should focus on a famous French Canadian and our English (auto)biographies should focus on a Famous Canadian. Students will then summarize the key contributions of their individual to Canada, as well as the more important facts of the person's life. Final work should be submitted in a format similar to the one outlined in the adjacent photo. Book reports are due January 31.
Autobiography Project - English Students will be writing their own autobiography (approximately 2 pages). Some questions to consider while writing include:
What famous quote can describe your life?
Which 3 adjectives can be used to describe you as a person?
Who influenced your personal development?
What are your best and worst childhood memories?
What is your family social and ethnic background?
What are your relations with parents and other relatives?
What are your main achievements in life?
What are the weaknesses that you would like to get rid of?
What are your goals for the future?
What places would you like to visit and why?
What skills would you like to develop and why?
What was the most memorable day in your life?
What was the most important lesson you have ever learned in your life?
What are the most important values in life, in your opinion?
Which fault would you never forgive others or yourself?
Autobiographies are due January 31.
Health Projects In health, students will be exploring various aspects of healthy eating. Our guiding questions for our studies will include: -How do allergies/sensitivities, food availability, media, family/friends, culture, and lifestyle affect our food choices? -What are some social and emotional factors that could lead to poor choices? and good choices? -What factors (beyond hunger and thirst) motivate or influence our desire to eat and drink? -How does food impact our health (i.e. the impacts of too much sugar, cancer-causing foods, etc.) - Explain 2 -Focusing on one eating disorder (i.e. anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, obesity etc.) students will investigate the impacts of an eating disorder on our health and our eating habits. Health projects are due February 7.
Heat in the Environment Grade 7's are responsible for finding definitions, examples, and drawing an illustration for the following: vaporisation, fusion, solidification, liquefaction, condensation, sublimation Test date: Tuesday January 29
